The waiting is often the hardest part. You might be sitting in a hospital hallway, or beside a bed at home watching someone you love hurt, or you might be the one whose body won’t cooperate and you’re tired of being brave about it. You’ve prayed every prayer you can think of, and now you want to know what God has said about sickness and healing.
The Bible doesn’t look away from pain, and many of its people cried out to God from their own sickbeds. Their words are here for you, along with what a few often-misread healing verses promise and what they don’t.
Here is the short answer. There are Bible verses about healing from Genesis to Revelation, and in Exodus 15:26 God calls Himself “the LORD who heals you.” Below you’ll find healing scriptures for sickness, heartache, guilt, and the long wait in between, each with a short note on why it matters, plus prayers you can pray today.
A Prayer for Healing You Can Pray Right Now
God, I’m tired and I’m hurting, and I don’t have many words left. You know exactly what’s wrong, even the parts I can’t explain to anyone else. Thank You for staying close when I feel weak. Please bring healing to my body and rest to my mind, and give the doctors and nurses wisdom and gentle hands. Whatever today holds, help me feel You near me in it. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Healing doesn’t always come on our timeline, but you never have to wait for it alone. The verses below are grouped by the kind of healing you might be looking for, so you can go straight to the one you need tonight.

What Does the Bible Say About Healing?
The Bible says healing is part of who God is. He calls Himself the LORD who heals, Jesus spent much of His ministry healing people, and Scripture promises a day when all pain will end.
One of the first names God gives Himself is Jehovah Rapha, which means “the LORD who heals.” He spoke it to His people in the desert, right after He turned bitter water sweet for them to drink.
“For I am the LORD who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26, CSB)
Before He asks anything of you, God tells you who He is, and part of His name is Healer.
“My soul, bless the LORD, and do not forget all his benefits. He forgives all your iniquity; he heals all your diseases.” (Psalm 103:2-3, CSB)
When you’re worn down, this verse is a gentle reminder to remember everything God has already carried you through.
Healing in the Bible reaches the whole person. It covers sick bodies, broken hearts, and souls weighed down by guilt, which is why the verses below are sorted into those same three places.

How These Healing Verses Read in the CSB and KJV
Many of the healing verses people know by heart come from the King James Version, like “by his stripes we are healed.” Every verse on this page is quoted from the Christian Standard Bible, so here are five well-loved healing verses side by side. You’ll see the words change a little, but the promise of who God is stays the same.
| Verse | CSB | KJV |
|---|---|---|
| Exodus 15:26 | For I am the LORD who heals you. | for I am the LORD that healeth thee. |
| Isaiah 53:5 | But he was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his wounds. | But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. |
| Jeremiah 17:14 | Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved, for you are my praise. | Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise. |
| Psalm 103:2-3 | My soul, bless the LORD, and do not forget all his benefits. He forgives all your iniquity; he heals all your diseases. | Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; |
| James 5:15 | The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. | And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. |
Bible Verses About Healing When You’re Sick
These are the verses to read when the diagnosis is new, the fever won’t break, or recovery is taking longer than anyone hoped.
When the Diagnosis Is New
30:17Jeremiah
“But I will bring you health and will heal you of your wounds” (Jeremiah 30:17, CSB)
God spoke these words to His people in exile, who had been called outcasts that no one cared about. Even so, He promised He had not forgotten them and would restore them. You may feel forgotten in a long illness too, and this verse reminds you that God still sees you and cares about your wounds.
When You Need to Remember Jesus Carried Your Pain
53:5Isaiah
“But he was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his wounds.” (Isaiah 53:5, CSB)
Isaiah wrote about a servant who would suffer in our place, and the New Testament shows that this was Jesus. The healing here is first about our sin, the wound that keeps us from God, and His wounds made a way for you to have peace with Him. Jesus also knows what suffering feels like from the inside, so you never bring your pain to someone who doesn’t understand it.
2:241 Peter
“By his wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24, CSB)
Peter wrote to believers who were being treated unfairly, and he pointed them back to Isaiah 53 and the cross. In fact, Jesus carried your sins so you could be made right with God. Whatever your body is going through today, you can come to Him just as you are.
When You Want Others to Pray With You
5:14-15James
“Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” (James 5:14-15, CSB)
James wrote to the early churches and told anyone who was sick to call the church leaders to pray over them. In other words, prayer and care for the sick were meant to happen in community, with the whole church involved. You were never meant to carry sickness alone, so it’s okay to ask your church family to come and pray with you.
6:2Psalm
“Be gracious to me, LORD, for I am weak; heal me, LORD, for my bones are shaking;” (Psalm 6:2, CSB)
David wrote this psalm when he was worn down in body and spirit, so tired that even his bones felt shaky. Still, he told God plainly how weak he felt and asked for mercy. You can be just as open with God about how weak you feel today.
1:23 John
“Dear friend, I pray that you are prospering in every way and are in good health, just as your whole life is going well.” (3 John 1:2, CSB)
John wrote this short letter to his friend Gaius, and he opened it by praying for his health. It also shows how natural it is to care about a friend’s body as well as their soul. That makes it a lovely verse to text to a friend who is unwell, as a prayer from you.
When Illness Lingers
4:162 Corinthians
“Therefore we do not give up. Even though our outer person is being destroyed, our inner person is being renewed day by day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16, CSB)
Paul wrote this after years of beatings, shipwrecks, and a body that was wearing out, so he knew what it was to live with pain that didn’t go away. He doesn’t pretend the body is fine. He says that even while it weakens, God is renewing the part of you that no illness can reach. If you live with a chronic illness or a slow recovery, this verse lets you stop measuring God’s care by your test results. Some days the only renewal you’ll notice is enough strength for today, and that counts.
Bible Verses for Emotional Healing and a Broken Heart
Some wounds don’t show up on a scan. Grief, worry, and a heaviness you can’t shake matter too, and God cares about them as much as a broken bone.

Verses for a Broken Heart
34:18Psalm
“The LORD is near the brokenhearted; he saves those crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18, CSB)
David wrote Psalm 34 after he escaped a frightening, humiliating moment while running for his life. As a result, he learned that God stays close when a heart is crushed. When your heart feels broken, God comes closer to you.
147:3Psalm
“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3, CSB)
This psalm celebrates God gathering His people back home after exile, when many of them were grieving all they had lost. In fact, the same God who counts the stars bends down to bandage broken hearts. Picture Him tending your heart the way you would gently bandage your child’s scraped knee.
Verses for Fear and Anxiety
41:10Isaiah
“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10, CSB)
God spoke these words through Isaiah to His people when they were afraid of the powerful nations around them. Instead of leaving them alone with that fear, He promised His presence, His strength, and His hand holding on to them. On the nights fear gets loud, this verse reminds you that God is holding on to you, even when you can’t hold on to Him.
4:6-7Philippians
“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7, CSB)
Paul wrote this from prison, where he had plenty of reasons to worry about what would happen next. Even so, he tells the church to bring every request to God with thanks and to let God’s peace guard their hearts. You can hand God every worry, one at a time, and let His peace stand guard over your heart.
Verses for Days When You Feel Low
42:11Psalm
“Why, my soul, are you so dejected? Why are you in such turmoil? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise him, my Savior and my God.” (Psalm 42:11, CSB)
The writer of this psalm was far from home and couldn’t worship with God’s people the way he used to. Still, he speaks to his own sad heart and points it back to God. Even the psalm writer had days when he had to talk his own heart back toward hope, and you can do the same.
1:3-42 Corinthians
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4, CSB)
Paul wrote this after a season so hard that he wasn’t sure he would live through it. However, he found that God comforted him right in the middle of it, and that comfort spilled over to others. The comfort God gives you in this season may one day be the comfort you pass on to someone else.
If anxiety or sadness is the heaviest part of what you’re carrying, talking with your doctor or a counselor is a good and faithful step, and you may also want to keep a few Bible verses for anxiety and worry close by.
Bible Verses About Spiritual Healing and Forgiveness
Sometimes the hurt underneath everything is guilt or shame. These verses are for the moments when you need to know you can start fresh with God.
Verses for Guilt and Regret
1:91 John
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9, CSB)
John wrote to believers to help them know they truly belong to God, even when they still stumble. Because God is faithful, He forgives our sins and makes us clean when we confess them. There is nothing you could bring to God that is too much for His forgiveness.
1:18Isaiah
“Though your sins are scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are crimson red, they will be like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18, CSB)
God spoke these words to His people after naming everything they had done wrong, and then He invited them to come and settle it with Him. Scarlet and crimson were stains that couldn’t be washed out of cloth, but God still promised to make them white. He can make you clean from whatever you regret today.
A Verse for a Fresh Start
51:10Psalm
“God, create a clean heart for me and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10, CSB)
David prayed this after the prophet Nathan confronted him about his sin with Bathsheba. Instead of making excuses, he asked God to give him a clean heart and a fresh start. This short verse makes a good prayer all on its own when you don’t know what else to say.
Bible Verses About Healing and Faith
Many people who are sick quietly worry that their healing depends on how much faith they have. However, the Bible never puts that weight on you. Faith is trusting God with what you’re facing, and even a small, shaky trust is welcome with Him.
When You Wonder If Your Faith Is Enough
11:1Hebrews
“Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1, CSB)
Hebrews was written to believers who were tired and tempted to give up, and this chapter goes on to name people who trusted God long before they saw His promises come true. Faith here means holding on to God when you can’t yet see how things will turn out. In other words, it doesn’t mean feeling certain or never doubting. On the days your faith feels thin, you can tell God so, and that conversation is itself an act of faith.
When Jesus Notices the One Who Trusts Him
9:22Matthew
“Jesus turned and saw her. ‘Have courage, daughter,’ he said. ‘Your faith has saved you.’ And the woman was made well from that moment.” (Matthew 9:22, CSB)
This is Matthew’s account of the woman who had been bleeding for twelve years, and you’ll find Mark’s account of her further down this page. Her faith was simply reaching for Jesus when she had nothing else left to try. Jesus praised that small reach, and He turned to look at her when she thought no one would. When healing doesn’t come the way you hoped, it never means you reached for Him wrong or not hard enough.
Bible Verses About Healing and Prayer
Prayer is where you bring the sickness, the waiting, and the fear to God. James 5:14-16, earlier on this page, invites you to ask others to pray with you, and this verse invites you to call on God yourself.
When You Need God to Answer
33:3Jeremiah
“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3, CSB)
God said this to Jeremiah while the prophet was confined in the palace guard’s courtyard and Jerusalem was surrounded by an army. Even in that hopeless moment, God told him to call out and promised to answer. He didn’t promise Jeremiah an easy outcome, but He did promise to speak and to show him what he couldn’t see on his own. You can call on God from a hospital room or a sleepless bed in the same way, trusting that He hears you before you see His answer.
Bible Verses About God’s Healing Power
Every healing in Scripture points back to who God is. The LORD who heals came close in Jesus, and these verses show what that looked like.
Jesus Went About Doing Good
10:38Acts
“how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how he went about doing good and healing all who were under the tyranny of the devil, because God was with him.” (Acts 10:38, CSB)
Peter said these words in the home of Cornelius, a Roman officer, as he summed up Jesus’ whole ministry in one sentence. In fact, healing filled Jesus’ days, and it was one of the clearest ways He showed people what God is like. When you pray for healing, you’re bringing your need to the same Jesus who went from town to town doing good.
He Carried Our Diseases
8:17Matthew
“so that what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: He himself took our weaknesses and carried our diseases.” (Matthew 8:17, CSB)
Matthew wrote this right after an evening when Jesus healed crowds of sick people at Peter’s house. Then he looked back to Isaiah 53 and saw Jesus as the one who would carry the weight of human suffering. Jesus came close enough to sickness to touch it, and He still comes close to yours. Whatever your body or your loved one’s body is carrying today, He knows its weight.
Healing Scriptures From the Psalms
The Psalms are full of people crying out to God from sickbeds and hard places. They’re a good place to turn when you need words that fit what you’re carrying.

Psalms for When You’ve Cried Out to God
30:2Psalm
“LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you healed me.” (Psalm 30:2, CSB)
David wrote Psalm 30 looking back on a time when he thought he might die and God brought him through. He also remembers crying out and being heard. His story can give you hope for yours while you are still waiting.
107:19-20Psalm
“Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; he saved them from their distress. He sent his word and healed them; he rescued them from their traps.” (Psalm 107:19-20, CSB)
This psalm tells of people in all kinds of trouble, including some so sick they could hardly eat, who cried out to God and were rescued. Then, each time, God answered when they called. God’s word still carries comfort, which is one reason reading these verses aloud can steady your heart.
Psalms for the Sickbed
41:3Psalm
“The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed; you will heal him on the bed where he lies.” (Psalm 41:3, CSB)
David wrote this psalm about God’s care for people who look after the weak and the poor. He also pictures God staying close to them on their sickbed. If you or someone you love is stuck in bed today, God is right there in that room.
73:26Psalm
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:26, CSB)
Asaph, the writer of this psalm, had been struggling with doubt and discouragement until he went into God’s presence and saw things clearly again. Afterward, he admits that both his body and his heart can fail. When your body and your feelings both give out, God is still your strength.
Bible Verses About Jesus’ Healing Miracles
Jesus never turned away a sick person who came to Him. Reading how He healed can help you picture Him with you and the people you love.
Jesus Heals the Crowds
4:40Luke
“When the sun was setting, all those who had anyone sick with various diseases brought them to him. As he laid his hands on each one of them, he healed them.” (Luke 4:40, CSB)
This happened in Capernaum at the end of the Sabbath, when people could finally carry their sick family members to Jesus. Soon, as the sun went down, a crowd gathered at the door. Jesus laid His hands on each person one at a time, and He sees you that personally too.
Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy
8:3Matthew
“Reaching out his hand, Jesus touched him, saying, ‘I am willing; be made clean.’ Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” (Matthew 8:3, CSB)
In Jesus’ day, a man with leprosy had to live apart from everyone else, and people avoided touching him. However, Jesus reached out and touched him before He healed him. That shows how willing He is to come close to your pain.
Jesus Heals a Woman Who Reached for Him
5:34Mark
“‘Daughter,’ he said to her, ‘your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be healed from your affliction.’” (Mark 5:34, CSB)
This woman had been bleeding for twelve years, had spent everything she had on doctors, and had been kept on the edges of her community. After she touched Jesus’ clothes, He stopped to find her and called her “daughter.” He calls you His own too, and He isn’t too busy to stop for you.
Jesus Heals Blind Bartimaeus
10:52Mark
“Jesus said to him, ‘Go, your faith has saved you.’ Immediately he could see and began to follow Jesus on the road.” (Mark 10:52, CSB)
Bartimaeus was a blind man begging by the road outside Jericho when Jesus passed by. He kept calling out even when the crowd told him to be quiet, and Jesus stopped for him. Keep calling out to Jesus, even when you feel like you’re being too much.
Jesus Heals a Man His Friends Carried
2:11-12Mark
“‘I tell you: get up, take your mat, and go home.’ Immediately he got up, took the mat, and went out in front of everyone. As a result, they were all astounded and gave glory to God, saying, ‘We have never seen anything like this!’” (Mark 2:11-12, CSB)
This man couldn’t walk, so four friends carried him to Jesus and even opened up the roof to lower him into the crowded house. Before Jesus healed his body, He told him his sins were forgiven, showing that He cares for the whole person. Similarly, every time you pray for someone who is sick, you’re doing what those friends did. You’re carrying them to Jesus when they can’t get there on their own.
Bible Verses to Pray Over a Sick Loved One
When it’s your child, your husband, your mom, or your friend who is sick, you can feel so helpless. Praying Scripture over them is one of the most loving things you can do.
For Praying Over Someone You Love
5:16James
“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.” (James 5:16, CSB)
James wrote this to churches, encouraging believers to be open with each other and to pray for one another. After all, prayer was never meant to be done alone. Your prayers for the people you love matter, and God hears every one of them.
For a Sick Child
40:11Isaiah
“He protects his flock like a shepherd; he gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them in the fold of his garment. He gently leads those that are nursing.” (Isaiah 40:11, CSB)
Isaiah wrote these words to comfort God’s people after a long, hard season, and he pictured God as a shepherd who carries the smallest lambs close to His chest. When your child is sick, that picture is one you can hold on to at the bedside. God carries your little one more gently than any arms could, and He leads you, the tired parent, with the same care. You can pray this verse over your child by name and ask God to hold them close tonight.
For When You’re the Caregiver
11:28Matthew
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28, CSB)
Jesus spoke these words to ordinary people who were worn out from trying to carry heavy religious rules on their own. Instead, He invited them to come to Him and find rest. Caring for someone who is sick is exhausting, and Jesus invites you to rest in Him too.
46:1Psalm
“God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble.” (Psalm 46:1, CSB)
This psalm was written for a time when the whole world seemed to be shaking and enemies were close. Even so, the writers sang that God was their safe place right in the middle of it. In a hospital hallway or at home with the medicine schedule, God is always right where you are.
Does God Promise to Heal Us?
God promises to be our Healer and to end all pain one day, but He doesn’t promise that every healing will come when or how we ask. Sometimes healing comes quickly, sometimes slowly through doctors and time, and sometimes it waits for heaven.
This can be the hardest part of praying for healing. If you’ve prayed and prayed and the answer hasn’t come, it doesn’t mean you didn’t pray enough or believe enough. Paul asked God three times to take away his own suffering, and God answered him with this:
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9, CSB)
When healing hasn’t come yet, God’s grace is still enough to carry you through today.
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4, CSB)
This is the healing every believer is promised, and nothing can take it away.
Praying for healing and seeing your doctor go hand in hand. God often works through medicine, nurses, and good care, so keep doing both.
Short Healing Bible Verses to Memorize
These short verses are easy to remember, write on a sticky note, or save as a phone wallpaper so they’re with you all day.
Short Verses to Start Your Day
17:14Jeremiah
“Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved, for you are my praise.” (Jeremiah 17:14, CSB)
Jeremiah prayed this while people mocked him and he felt worn down by everything around him. He didn’t have long words, so he asked God simply to heal him and save him. It’s a whole healing prayer in one sentence, and you can make it yours today.
4:2Malachi
“the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings” (Malachi 4:2, CSB)
Malachi was the last prophet of the Old Testament, and he looked ahead to the day God would set everything right. He described it like a sunrise that brings healing, and Christians have long seen that hope come to life in Jesus. It’s a beautiful picture to hold on to on a dark morning.
17:22Proverbs
“A joyful heart is good medicine” (Proverbs 17:22, CSB)
Proverbs is a book of everyday wisdom, and this line notices how much a cheerful heart helps a body and spirit. Joy doesn’t replace a doctor, but it does good. Small moments of joy, even a laugh with your kids, are part of how God restores you.
Short Verses for When You’re Worn Out
23:3Psalm
“He renews my life; he leads me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:3, CSB)
David wrote Psalm 23 as someone who had cared for sheep and knew how much tending a flock needs. This line also reminds you that God is the one who restores your strength, a little at a time. You can whisper the first four words when you’re too tired for anything longer.
40:29Isaiah
“He gives strength to the faint and strengthens the powerless.” (Isaiah 40:29, CSB)
Isaiah spoke this to people who were worn out from waiting on God. It tells you something about God’s character, that He gives strength to people who have run out of their own. Say it especially on the mornings you wake up already tired.
1:7Nahum
“The LORD is good, a stronghold in a day of distress; he cares for those who take refuge in him.” (Nahum 1:7, CSB)
Nahum is a short book full of hard words, and this verse shines out of the middle of it. A stronghold is a safe place to run when danger comes, and God offers Himself as that place. It’s an easy verse to repeat in a waiting room.
30:5Psalm
“Weeping may stay overnight, but there is joy in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5, CSB)
David wrote this after God brought him back from a time when he feared he would die. The verse doesn’t rush your tears, but it reminds you that night doesn’t last forever. Hold on to it on the evenings that feel longest.
Psalm 147:3, Psalm 30:2, and Psalm 34:18 from earlier on this page are short enough to memorize too.
Save These 4 Steps to Pray Scripture for Healing

How to Pray Scripture for Healing
Praying Scripture simply means using God’s own words as your prayer. It’s especially helpful when you’re too tired or scared to find words of your own.
1Choose One Verse
Pick one verse from this page that speaks to what you’re facing today. One is enough, and you can come back for another tomorrow.
2Make It Personal
Put your name, or the name of the person you’re praying for, into the verse. Psalm 147:3 might become, “Lord, You heal the brokenhearted. Please heal my heart, and bandage these wounds.”
3Pray It Back to God
Say the verse to God out loud or quietly, and then tell Him what’s on your heart. You can thank Him for His promise and ask Him for what you need in the same breath.
4Keep Coming Back
Healing often takes time, so come back to your verse in the morning, at night, or whenever worry creeps in. Every time you pray it, you’re resting your weight on what God has said.
Healing Prayers You Can Pray Today
A Prayer When You’re Sick
Lord, my body hurts and I’m tired of feeling this way. You said You are the LORD who heals, so I’m bringing all of this to You. Thank You for every person helping me get better. A Prayer for a Sick Loved One
Father, You know how much I love the person who is sick right now, and You love them even more than I do. I feel helpless, so I’m asking You to be close to them. Please bring healing to their body, ease their pain, and guide every doctor and nurse caring for them. Give me patience and strength as I care for them too. In Jesus’ name, amen.
A Prayer for a Hurting Heart
God, my heart feels broken, and I’m not sure how to fix it. Thank You for being near to me when I’m crushed in spirit. Please heal the places that hurt the most, the ones I haven’t told anyone about. Help me let go of what I can’t carry and fill those empty places with Your peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
A Final Word of Encouragement
Whatever brought you here today, whether it’s a new diagnosis, a long recovery, or a heart that won’t stop aching, you don’t have to carry it alone. Frequently Asked Questions About Healing Scriptures
Many people turn to Exodus 15:26, where God says, “For I am the LORD who heals you,” because it shows that healing is part of His name. Isaiah 53:5 and Jeremiah 17:14 are also much-loved healing verses.
In the CSB, Isaiah 53:5 ends with, “we are healed by his wounds.” It describes Jesus suffering in our place, and His wounds bring us peace with God and healing from sin.
That is the King James wording of Exodus 15:26. In the CSB it reads, “For I am the LORD who heals you.”
That phrase comes from Isaiah 53:5 in the King James Version, and 1 Peter 2:24 repeats it. The CSB words it as “by his wounds” in both places.
God promises to be our Healer and to end all sickness one day, as Revelation 21:4 says. He doesn’t promise that every healing will come right away, and unanswered prayers never mean you lack faith.
Psalm 6, 30, 41, 103, 107, and 147 all speak of God’s healing, and Psalm 147:3 is a good place to start.
Choose a verse, put their name into it, and pray it back to God. James 5:14-16 also invites you to ask others to pray with you.
A good healing prayer is simple and from the heart. Tell God what’s wrong, thank Him for being near, and ask for healing and peace in Jesus’ name.
